Exhibition of the House of Literature Berlin jointly with KX Space Brest. The exhibition presents documents, photographs and works of art. They will be presented to visitors in the form of 35 posters in Russian, which describe the life and works of Shalamov, as well as his relationship with the writers like Mandelstam, Pasternak and Solzhenitsyn. The exhibition contains the documens about Shalamov.

The exhibition was created as a part of the German-Russian cooperation with human rights organization “Memorial”, the regional museums of the Russian Federation and the personal foundation of Shalamov.
Varlam Shalamov was in the camps of Gulag for almost twenty years. In his writings “Kolyma Tales” he showed the deconstruction of people through hard work, a hopeless situation for the prisoners and their dehumanization in constant fear and hunger.
