Antinuclear camp – against nuclear power, for energy democracy took place place between 23 – 29 July 2012 in the village Lubiatowo in Pomerania, 90 kilometers west from Gdańsk. It’s one of the three localities selected by the energy company PGE to build a nuclear power plant.
The program included a number of lectures and meetings on risks associated with the construction of nuclear power plants, alternative energy sources, as well as practical and legal aspects of social self-organization and direct democracy, as a precondition for the creation of energy democracy.
The camp finished by antinuclear demonstration in Gdansk on 29 of July.
We were invited to the camp with the street performance “Toringfly”. And then we participated in the demonstration which started from the Stocznia Gdanska the birthplace of “The Solidarity” movement and went through the city centre.
One of the reasons of our participating in the camp and the demonstration was the impossibility of the social protest in Belarus and giving voice to the question of building Nuclear Power Station in Ostrovets.
