Belarusian drama during XX – beg. XXI has significantly transformed. Accelerated development of drama, as well as the way the whole Belarusian literature, could be observed in the early XXth century, when during a very short period, just twenty years, drama went from naturalism to realism, then to modernism. Always there was searching for a new / modern / contemporary hero. The character, who would accurately reflect the time. It is interesting to see how the different periods playwrights were creating “their” hero. Did they manage to do it? Were they really heroes? Is there a hero in the drama now?
