On 20th of April the theatre “Kryly Halopa” performed “The Trial” by F. Kafka in the support of Moscow group Pussy Riot.
The appeal of the theatre group:
On the 21st of February in the Christ the Savior Cathedralin Moscow feminist group Pussy Riot made the punk-action.
Criminal case was brought upon this action. The maximum punishment under responsible article makes seven years of imprisonment.
In spite of the fact that the girls were arrested on the charge of hooliganism, it is clear that the “punk -prayer” became the protest against falsification of the elections, V. Putin’s authoritative mode and lack of freedom of speech in Russia. The action in Christ the Savior Cathedral had the intention to specify the merge of the political power and Church. The power wants to make the process of Pussy Riot demonstrative.
Performing “The Trial” today we protest against unfairly rigid reaction to peace expression of political convictions. We protest against bribability and hypocrisy of the Russian Orthodox Church, demanding to punish participants of group. We protest against attempt of the authorities to arrangedemonstrative process.
We oppose prosecutions of artists for their activity and against the criminalization of politically focused art.
Freedom of creativity is one of the most important values of human society. We protest against censorship and attempts to hide “inconvenient” art into a prison!
Freedom to Pussy Riot! Freedom to creative expression! Freedom to art!
