Performance “Chernobyl” of independent theatre group “Kryly Halopa” from Brest (Director. A.Haiko, act. S. Haidalionak, S.Haiko) – is the first part of the project “History of Belarus”, conceived as a theatrical multi-volume, each of which will be dedicated to the events of contemporary history.
The performance is created on the basis of the two expeditions to the Belarusian part of the resettlement zone and Poleski Radiation Ecological Reservation, interviews with people who were evacuated after the Chernobyl accident, the documents relating to the consequences of the disaster, and forum materials devoted to the construction of nuclear power plant in Astravets. The premiere was held in December 2012 at the International Theatre Festival “Masks” in Poznan. “Chernobyl” was also shown at festivals in Denmark and Wegaity. Finally, it was performen in front of Belarusian audience within the frameworks of theatre and ecological festival “PRYZBA“.
